The Christmas season has an abundance of
“wealth” in store for all who wish to draw the most out of it.
Its spiritual significance and symbolism enriches the soul. Its
traditions and customs offer a wealth of opportunities for cheerful giving and
delightful receiving. Its spirit of uniting minds and hearts, of refreshing
friendships and reconciling enemies opens a treasure-house of love, peace and
Christmas Treasury seeks to emphasize the true ‘value’
of Christmas with a range of heart-warming, informative and inspiring
“nuggets” – concise presentations on a variety of topics that blend
mystery and make-believe, fact with fancy, the spiritual and the secular.
Christmas Treasury has
six sections. The first section,
Faith and Facts, traces the origin and
evolution of Christmas and the beliefs that surround it. The second, Symbols
and Sentiments, highlight some of the symbols of this holy season, in the
Indian context. The third section, Legends and Legacies, picks up some
true-life stories behind the creation of some of our favourite Christmas music
and writing. Section four, Christ and Compassion, encapsulates the
Christmas spirit – of a God who “empties” himself in order to give himself
fully to others, even unto death on the cross. Section five, Rhythm and
Rhyme, contains five inspirational poems, Section six has two parts,
and Gaffes, to spread the Christmas cheer.
is meant to inform, inspire and entertain. It challenges “men and women of
good will” who consider this universally celebrated festival as more than just
another red-letter Day on the calendar! It hopes to so ‘enrich’ one and all
with the true spirit of Christmas as to enable one to celebrate the joy that the
season brings, all the year long! It is a “gift” worth treasuring!
